KNAB finalises investigation into gifts received by Valdis Zatlers

The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau has finished the investigation into the facts to check whether by accepting gifts (gratuities) for doctor’s work Valdis Zatlers as a public official and as Chairman of the Council of the State Limited Liability Company „Hospital of Traumatology and Orthopaedics” was respecting the requirements of the law „On Prevention of Conflict of Interest in the Activities of Public Officials”.
International initiative “European Partners against Corruption”

The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau in co-operation with the Special Investigation Service of Lithuania, Chairs of the anti-corruption institutions working group within the international initiative “European Partners against Corruption”, have gathered experience of 8 anti-corruption institutions in Austria, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Rumania and Slovenia how relevant international anti-corruption standards are implemented through the work of these institutions and which of their functions and anti-corruption measures could be considered as good practice. The report "Common Standarts and Best Practices for Anti-corruption Agencies" is made public in July 2008.
SRS Customs Criminal Board Official Recognised as a Suspect

The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has recognised as a suspect the Director of the State Revenue Service (SRS) Customs Criminal Board in relation to false statement in the public official’s annual asset declaration and unlawful participation in property transactions.
Six persons suspected in relation to bribery in Riga municipality

At present six persons are recognised as suspects within the criminal proceedings initiated on 14 February 2008 in relation to several allegedly committed offences in relation to decisions taken by the Riga City Council and its structural units.
