The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has sent a criminal proceeding materials to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Riga City Center, asking to initiate a criminal prosecution against the official of the State Police of Latvia for the accepting of the offer for the bribe (The second part of the Article 320 of the Criminal Law) in amount of 15 000 EUR and against the private person for the supporting of the bribe taking offer (The fourth part of the Article 20 and the second part of the Article 320 of the Criminal Law).
During the pre-trial investigation KNAB found, that official of the State Police of Latvia with the mediation of the joint participant accepted the bribe offer to change security feature for the suspected person within the criminal proceeding of the State Police.
KNAB states that no person is considered guilty until his guilt of a criminal offence is proved in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Law.
