The Public Consultative Council started to function in May 2004.
It is aimed to ensure the participation of the public in implementing the anti-corruption policy and education of the public in Latvia. The Council seeks to strengthen the link between KNAB and the public.
The Council is operated through regular meetings organised by KNAB.
The Council is constituted from 15 non-governmental organisations and is currently headed by Mr. Valts Kalniņš, researcher of the Public Policy Centre Providus. In 2005, 11 meetings of the Council were held. Most recently the Council met in October 2006.
The Council has provided recommendations to improve KNAB's work (e.g. the health sector, corruption in courts system).
