The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB), assessing the information what it holds, in the March of this year has initiated a criminal proceeding for the possible criminal actions for which the liability is provided in the 2nd Part of the Article 326 1 of the Criminal Law.
During the investigation there is going work on obtaining and securing the evidence, which proofs that private person, possibly accepted an offer of the material benefit for the using its social position to influence the decisions and actions of the officials of the Jurmala City Council, what resulted in conclusion of the transaction with ltd “Jūrmalas siltums” in the interests of concrete company. Within this criminal proceeding as suspected persons has recognized three persons.
To protect interests of the investigation, at this stage the more detailed information is not provided.
KNAB states that no one person is considered as guilty until his guilt of a criminal offence is proved in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Law.
KNAB, as one of the priority of its activities in 2017, has defined a corruption combatting in public institutions, inter alia, in local government capital companies, which provides public services or realizes a large scale purchases of goods and services.
