In the area of corruption prevention, the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau monitors the implementation of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in Activities of Public Officials, and collects and analyses information about the inspections it carries out.

In order to ensure that public officials act in the public interest by preventing the influence of any personal or financial interest of public officials, their relatives, or business partners on the activities of those public official, the bureau monitors compliance with the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in Activities of Public Officials, and with additional restrictions set for other public officials by law.

The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau:

  • verifies statements by public officials in order to examine, within the scope of its competence, breaches of restrictions and prohibitions imposed by law on public officials;
  • verifies whether public officials are not in a conflict of interest in the performance of their duties and comply with the restrictions and prohibitions imposed on them;
  • verifies whether former public officials comply with the restrictions and prohibitions imposed on them in the cases provided by law;
  • examines applications, complaints, and proposals by natural individuals and legal entities, and answers them;
  • participates in the drafting and improvement of laws and regulations governing the prevention of conflicts of interest;
  • requires public officials to provide compensation for damage caused, ensuring that any income and financial benefits, or a proportional increase in these that a public official obtains in violation of the restrictions set out in the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in Activities of Public Officials, or other laws, are compensated to the state.

Having detected violations of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in Activities of Public Officials, the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau charges public officials with administrative liability, examining administrative offence cases, and imposing administrative punishments for administrative offences in the area of corruption prevention.
