Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) continues examination of expenses of pre-election campaigning of political parties.
KNAB will verify declarations of income and expenditure of political organisations which have to be submitted until 1 November indicating all income and expenses occurred during campaigning period from 5 June till 2 October.

Information about disclosed violations and prevention measures will be provided after summarizing all results of examinations during six months period after all declarations are received but not later than May 2011.

KNAB has received 83 applications and complaints concerning pre-election campaigning of political parties, 19 of those contain request to explain legal provisions regarding pre-election campaigning, 64 complaints were received concerning alleged violations of campaigning rules, 30 complaints which is more than half of total number are related to hidden campaigning- paid advertisement where information about person taking financial responsibility is not indicated which is in contradiction with legal provisions.

After having analysed more than 1 290 announcements about limited campaigning expenses, KNAB has concluded that one political organisation has spent 96%, one party - 95% of the threshold, and expenses of two other parties have reached 79% un 56% of the established threshold. Remaining nine political organisations have spent less than 16 % from permitted financial resources.

During campaigning period KNAB has also received information concerning 88 cases of so called third party agitation and in the framework of examinations relation of these persons to party campaigning is examined. In cases when such relation is disclosed all related expenses will be added to campaigning expenses of respective political party.
